The Crane Phenomenon
Khichan Village is renowned for its unique winter arrival of thousands of Demoiselle Cranes. The community tradition of providing food grains is a testament to the villager's deep-rooted conservation efforts and the harmony they share with the natural world.
The crane (locally called as 'kurjas') season has already started for 2026-27. First few cranes had arrived as early as late-August, and by now (29th October) the number of arrivals has already swollen to +10K. Local and foreign visitors have already started arriving to view the spectacle from the rooftop viewing point of Mr. Sevaram.
